An important component in a diet for abs is carbohydrates. It should comprise 45-65% of you daily calories, which is approximately 210-290 grams. When you have consumed more than 65%, chances are your body will retain fluid, which results to temporary weight gain and bloating. This is something that you would like to avoid.

Water

It is a common misconception that an increase in water intake can cause puffy abdomens. This may happen because people would associate water to bloating. However, the result is actually the opposite since water significantly helps in flushing out sodium in the body that causes a person to bloat.

Sodium.

According to the American Heart Institute, the recommended consumption of sodium is actually about one teaspoon of salt daily. Any excess of this amount can cause bloating. Dishes that are notoriously known to have high sodium content include soups, French fries, and all those fast food and commercial dishes. Do cut back on these types of food if you would like to succeed in your ab diet.
